A replication connection defines how source data is moved to a target database or file system. You can create, test, catalog, edit, delete, and view details of replication connections from the Configuration area.

Replication connections support two types: continuous replication, which replicates data in real-time or near-real-time, and mainframe replication, which handles large-volume data from legacy mainframe systems. Each type requires at least one runtime engine configured for the source and target.

Note: To configure a replication connection, you must have the Replication Designer role. This can be assigned by a workspace admin from the Invite and manage users section.

Create a replication connection

  1. Navigate to Configuration > Replication Connections.
  2. Click + Add Data Connection. The New Replication Connection window opens.
What's changed: In the new user experience, Add Data Connection appears as Add, and New Replication Connection appears as Add replication connection. For more information on the new experience, see About the new user experience.
  3. Specify properties depending on your connection type.
  4. Select the appropriate engine. The replication engine manages data flow between source and target, ensuring consistency and error handling.
  5. Click Test. A confirmation message is displayed if the connection is successful.
  6. Click Save. The new connection appears in the connections table.

Test a replication connection

  1. Navigate to Configuration > Replication Connections.
  2. Click the ellipsis next to the connection and select Test. A confirmation message is displayed if the connection is successful.

Edit a replication connection

  1. Navigate to Configuration > Replication Connections.
  2. Click the ellipsis next to the connection and select Edit. The Edit Data Connection window opens.
  3. Modify connection properties as needed. If no description was provided during setup, you can add one in the Description field.
  4. Click Test to validate the updated credentials.
  5. Click Save.

Delete a replication connection

  1. Navigate to Configuration > Replication Connections.
  2. Click the ellipsis next to the connection and select Delete. The Delete Connections window opens.
  3. Click Delete to confirm.

View connection details

Connection details show current statuses and the time interval between when data changed on the source and when it was captured.

  1. Navigate to Configuration > Replication Connections.
  2. Click the ellipsis next to the connection and select Details. The Data Connection Details page opens.
  3. Click Refresh to see the latest statistics and statuses.
  4. Click Close.
