Configuring business asset types involves setting up and organizing these assets within Data Integrity Suite to effectively manage, track, and use them for optimal business performance.
To create a business asset type:
- Navigate to .
- Click the Create Asset Type button and a dialog called Create Asset Type will appear.
- Enter a Name for the asset type. The value that you enter in the Name field is the value that you will see in Business Assets tab list view. It must be unique and there should not be any asset type of the same type with the same name.
- Enter the Display format field.
- Add a Description to provide more context about the asset type.
- Choose a Background Color for the asset type.
- Pick an Icon to represent this asset type visually. You can scroll through the list of available options, or type to search for an icon by name. If you do not define a custom icon, the default icon for this asset type will be used.
- Click Create Asset Type to save the new asset type.
- After creating a business asset type, you can proceed to to create business assets for that type.
To view a list of existing asset types, navigate to . You can filter the list of business asset types by typing the first few characters of an existing asset type in the search bar.
- View Information: Opens the Information panel on the right.
- Open: Opens the Details tab in the current tab in browser.
- Open in New Tab: Opens the Details tab in a new tab in browser.
View details for a business asset type
The Details tab of an asset type shows the settings that have been defined on the item, which can include a description of the asset type, security settings and any color or icon settings that have been configured.
- Navigate to .
- Click the name of the asset type in the asset list view to open its Details tab.
- You can view all the information on this page or choose to edit these details by clicking the Edit button.
Edit a business asset type
- Navigate to .
- Click the ellipsis next to an asset type name and select Edit. The Edit Asset Type dialog with existing asset details will appear.
- Modify the details of the asset type as required and click Save.
Delete a business asset type
- Navigate to .
- Click the ellipsis next to an asset type name and select Delete. A Delete Asset Type dialog will appear.
- To confirm the deletion of the asset type, along with the associated assets, select the checkbox and click Delete.
Update the Display Format field
When you create a new asset type, it will have a key field called Name. The value of this field is used to reference the asset throughout the application. For example, when you open an asset details page, the value of this field is displayed in the breadcrumb. If you edit the name of this default field, or delete the field, this change is not automatically picked up throughout the application. You must also update the Display Format value.
You can choose to edit the Display Format value if you want to use an additional or different field to reference the asset type throughout the application.
- Navigate to .
- Click the ellipsis next to an asset type name and select Edit.
- In the Display Format field, click the ellipsis and select the name of the field to reference the asset type.
- Delete any existing tokens from this field to leave only the tokens that you want to use.
