Type: General step

The Copy Field operator copies one or more columns in a dataset to new or existing columns. It duplicates the data type and data values from the original column to the specified target column. The copied columns appear after the original column in the table and retain the same semantic type as the source column.

Configuration Options
  • Step name: Provide a meaningful name for the step to help users understand its purpose when editing a pipeline. Example: Copy Address column
  • Copy from: Select the source column to be copied from the list provided.
  • Copy to: Specify the name of the new column to which the data will be copied. The step preview will display the original and copied columns side by side.
  • Add another: Click the Add another button to copy additional columns. You can also remove a column copy operation by clicking the Remove icon next to it.
Note:
  • While copying to an existing field, the Copy to field will only show the columns that have the same data type as the Copy from field.
  • If the target column name matches an existing field in the cataloged dataset, the copied values will overwrite the existing values in that field.
