When working with the Profiling, a Time series chart visually represents recorded data values over a specified time period for the selected field, such as Type Confidence.
- Navigate to a and select a field that contains profiling data.
-
Select the Profile tab in the secondary navigation. An information box regarding the trend indicators will appear.
- Click the X on the right to close the message. Once closed, it will not appear again.
-
Click on a trend indicator to display the time series.
- Each point on the time series chart represents a profiling run, including its date and time, as well as the value of the result.
- You can specify the time period for viewing the profiling results by either selecting a date range from the upper right-hand corner or by clicking and dragging the mouse on the slider bar to the desired date to narrow your results.
-
With the time series chart displayed, you can click on any other trend indicator, and the chart will update accordingly.
- An upwards pointing triangle: Current value is greater than the previous date.
- A downwards pointing triangle: Current value is less than the previous date.
- A diamond: Current value is the same as the previous date.
The trend indicator compares the last two entries for the field and only displays if there is more than one point to show. When clicked, the relevant time series chart appears in the Profiling panel. The X and Y axes of the chart are automatically adjusted based on the selected date range and field type. If a different trend indicator is selected in the Profiling panel, the chart updates automatically.
Date Range: The date range can be selected from a list at the top right corner of the chart:
- Custom: Disabled and cannot be selected directly.
- View 1 Month: Default option.
- View 3 Months
- View 6 Months
- View Year To Date
- View All: Displays one year's worth of data, the maximum allowed for data profiling.
Slider Bar, Dates, and Calendars: A slider bar beneath the chart works with the date range. Moving the slider to select different dates updates the chart, setting the view option to Custom. You can also click on the dates displayed at the top right of the chart to modify them by selecting new dates from a calendar.
Chart Displays: A chart may include one or more lines, depending on what was clicked to display the chart. For instance, clicking the Sample Quality bar could show up to three lines, while clicking a trend indicator generally shows one.
Line Colors: Lines are displayed in colors assigned to the specific field. For example, the line for Valid sample quality data values is green by default, while Invalid/Outliers are represented by a red line. If fields lack a specific color assignment, they default to dark gray.
