Use Trim String to remove leading, trailing, or both types of characters from a string field. If no characters are specified, whitespace is trimmed by default.

Steps:
  1. Select Field to cleanse from the dropdown.
  2. Enter the specific characters to trim (e.g., “-”, “_”, “M”, “p”).
  3. Choose a Trim Direction:
    • Beginning
    • End
    • Both – beginning and end
  4. Enter Maximum to remove which specifies the maximum number of characters that will be removed from the selected direction. If no value is specified, all instances of the specified characters will be removed from the selected direction until the first unspecified character.
  5. Click Apply.

You can add multiple Trim Characters actions for different fields or use cases.
