Whenever an anomaly is detected, the corresponding alerts are generated. You can keep a track of the generated alerts and proactively monitor them and take corrective actions to resolve potential issues.
To view alerts:
- On the main navigation menu, click . The Alerts page appears.
- Under Observation Alerts, hover your mouse pointer on the alert type to get the number of critical alerts and warning alerts. The number shown in the circle are the total alerts.
- You can click the corresponding alert type donuts to filter and view specific type of alerts.
- You can select Include Non-Alerts to view the events not classified as alerts based on their confidence level. For example, if you have set a confidence level between 60% and 80%, events generated for a confidence level below 60% are non-alerts.
- To see the alert details for an asset, click the asset name.
- The details are displayed in the right panel in the Summary and
Details tab.
- Summary: You can view details for the respective table. The details include the name of the table and the details of the associated rule. The details are represented in the form of a graph with an option to view the details for the selected time interval. Hovering over the graph provides details on the row count and the associated date.
- The Details tab provides details on the generated alerts and the associated asset information.
- Study the alert details and take the required action. You can click Close Alert, if the issue is resolved or you don't want to take any action on the alert.
Note:
- Snowflake: The table and column popularity is shown for Snowflake users having accountadmin role or roles having access to the Snowflake database. The accountadmin can grant Snowflake database access to other roles. To grant Snowflake database access to other roles, refer to Enabling Snowflake database usage for other roles.
- BigQuery: The table and column popularity is shown for BigQuery users having resourceViewer role. Ask your administrator to grant you the BigQuery Resource Viewer (roles/bigquery.resourceViewer) IAM role on your project. For more information about granting roles, see Manage access for Google BigQuery.
Alert details
You can view the impacted data for a specific period. Select any period from the drop-down
as:
- View 1 Week: Shows a week's data and the changes that occurred over seven days until the alert was generated.
- View 1 Month: Shows a month's data and the changes that occurred over 30 days until the alert was generated.
- View 1 Year: Shows a year's data and the changes that occurred over 365 days until the alert was generated.
- View All: Shows all the data and the changes that occurred over a period until the alert was generated.

| Freshness | Shows the date and time the table was last updated and its expected freshness frequency. |
| Volume | Shows the change in the number of rows in the data over time. |
| Data Drift | Shows the change in selected data statistics over time. You can click the impacted statistics to view their result. |
| Schema Drift | Shows the impacted column or table along with the change that occurred in the data asset. |
Sort Alerts
You can sort alerts to easily arrange information in an order that makes sense for your task. Alerts are sorted by the Raised On column by default.
To sort alerts:
- On the main navigation menu, click .
- Click the title of the column by which you want to sort the alerts.
- To reverse the sort order from descending to ascending or from ascending to descending, click the title of the column again.
Note: The alerts are sorted by Raised On by default.
The alerts can be sorted by the respective columns.
- Asset Name: Click this column title to sort alerts in alphabetical order of observed assets. The asset name is the list of tables and columns used in the Observer. The alerts are sorted alphabetically in ascending order of the alert name and are followed by an implicit secondary sort on Raised On column.
- Asset Parent: Click this column title to sort alerts in alphabetical order of the parent asset. The parent asset is the name of tables used in the Observer.
- Alert Level: Click this column title to sort alerts by their alert level, critical or warning. Alerts are sorted alphabetically in ascending order, which presents all critical alerts first. This is followed by an implicit secondary sort on Raised On column.
- Alert type: Click this column title to sort alerts in alphabetical order by their type. Alerts are sorted alphabetically in ascending order by alert type and are followed by implicit secondary sort on Raised On column. You can click the column again to change the order of sorting.
- Raised On: Click this column title to sort alerts based on when the alert was generated. Alerts are sorted by Raised on by default, in descending order, so the most recently generated alert is shown at the top.
Manage observer notifications
Notifications inform you when an alert is generated or when an Observer fails to run ten
times consecutively. You get notifications by email. Only the creator of an Observer can
turn notifications ON or OFF as a whole for an Observer.
Note: The
alert notifications are sent from a no-reply email (cloud@precisely.com). If you do not
see the expected emails in your inbox, check your spam or quarantined folder. If you
haven't received any emails, check with your organization's IT support to allow receipt of
these emails from the domain.
The creator can also add recipients to the
notifications list when creating or editing an Observer.Use these steps to manage
notification as a creator.To subscribe to notifications as a creator:
- As part of creating or editing an Observer, navigate to the last page where you will finalize the Observer.
- In the Notifications section, notifications are set to on by default. If desired, toggle Email Notifications off.
- If you want to add a notification recipient, type the recipient's email address in the recipients field.
- Click Save.
Close Alert
You can close an alert to mark it as complete after you have resolved the issues in your
data assets. Once you close the alert, it is removed from the alert list. The count for the
specific alert shown in the donut will reduce depending on which alert is closed. The alert
count will also reduce for the number of alerts shown on the
Observers page.
Note: Currently,
you cannot reopen closed alerts. This behavior will be fixed in the future
release.
To close an alert:
- On the main navigation menu, click . The Alerts page appears.
- Click the ellipsis icon corresponding to the Asset Name for
which you want to close the alert, and then click Close Alert.
The alert is resolved and no longer displayed.Tip: You can also close the alert from the Alert Summary page on the right when you select an asset.
