The auto generation of asset description feature in the Data Integrity Suite leverages AI to automatically generate meaningful descriptions for datasets, simplifying the work of data stewards and enhancing data governance. This feature is designed to automate the generation of descriptive metadata for datasets, thereby streamlining the process and ensuring consistency and depth in descriptions.

In the Data Integrity Suite, descriptions for datasets can be generated from several different sources.
  1. Dataset details side panel
  2. Dataset details page
  3. Dataset edit page
To generate dataset descriptions from the dataset details side panel in the list view:
  1. From the main navigation menu click Catalog > Datasets.
  2. Click any column associated with the dataset for which you would want to auto generate the description. This would display the dataset details in the side panel within the list view.
  3. Within the details tab, in the description section, click Generate.
  4. This would auto generate a description for the associated dataset.
  5. Once the description is generated, you can perform the following operations:
    • Retry: This option would regenerate a new description.
    • Save: This would add the description to the dataset.
    • Cancel: Deletes the generated description.
  6. Click Save to add the generated description to the dataset.

The associated description can be generated from the Dataset details page.

To generate a description from the Dataset details page:
  1. From the main navigation menu, click Catalog > Datasets.
  2. Click the dataset name for which you would want to auto generate the description.
  3. This would display the details of the associated dataset.
  4. Within the description section, click Generate.
  5. Once the description is generated, you can perform the following operations:
    • Retry: This option would regenerate a new description.
    • Save: This would add the description to the dataset.
    • Cancel: Deletes the generated description.
  6. Click Save to add the generated description to the dataset

After the description is saved, it can be modified from the edit page in assets.

You can also generate a description from the edit asset page.

To generate a description from edit asset page:

  1. From the main navigation menu click Catalog > Datasets.

  2. Click the dataset for which you would want to auto generate the description. This would display the details of the associated dataset.

  3. Within the details tab, click Edit.

  4. Scroll down to the description box.

  5. Click Generate.

  6. Once the description is generated, you can perform the following operations:
    • Retry: This option would regenerate a new description.
    • Clear: Deletes the generated description.

  7. Click Save to add the generated description to the dataset.

The generated asset descriptions can be edited to refine it, regenerate the descriptions for alternative suggestions or discard the description if it is not satisfactory.

Note: To access the auto asset description feature in the Catalog, you must initially enable it at the workspace level under the AI tab within configuration.
