The Technical Assets tab in Catalog lists all the technical asset types, their description and asset count for each type. You can manage or create new technical assets for any asset type listed in this tab.

To create a technical asset:

  1. Navigate to Catalog > Technical Assets. The list of technical asset types display where you can view the Name, Description and total Asset Count for each asset type.
  2. You can also click the arrows next to each column header to sort the column either in ascending or descending order. Click an asset type from the list to view all its details.
  3. Click Create Asset to create a new asset.
  4. In the Create Asset dialog complete the required and optional fields to define the asset. The required fields are defined for your organization. If you cannot find a suitable asset type that categorizes your asset and provides the correct fields to populate, ask an administrator to create a new asset type for you.
  5. Click Create or Create and Add Another. The system then ensures that the key fields used to identify this asset is unique.
    • If there is a single key field, such as Name, which is not unique, then it will be identified as an invalid field.
    • If there are multiple key fields that are not unique, a different validation message displays for all key fields.
  6. Once the asset is created, these menu options are available when you click the ellipsis for an asset or open its Information panel:
    • View Information: Opens the Information panel on the right.
    • Open: This will take you to the page where you can view Details.
    • Open in New Tab: Opens the Details tab in a new tab in browser.
    • Edit: Opens the Edit Asset dialog where you can edit the configuration of the asset.
    • Delete: Opens the Delete Asset dialog where you can remove the asset from the system.
