Learn how to manage governance rules, including editing, duplicating, deleting, and viewing detailed rule information to maintain effective data governance.

Update, duplicate or delete an existing governance rule

To modify, duplicate or delete a rule:
  1. On the Rules tab, hover over the rule in the list.
  2. Click the ellipsis next to the rule.
  3. Choose from options:
    • Edit: Update rule details. Update the rule name, description, dimension, target asset type, or other settings.
    • Duplicate: Create a copy of the rule.
    • Delete: Confirm deletion in the pop-up dialog and remove the rule permanently.
  4. After creating or updating a rule, a success message will appear:
  • "Rule created" when a new rule is added.
  • "Rule updated successfully" when changes are saved.
  • Deleting a rule will also prompt a confirmation.

Tips

  • Use the search bar to quickly find specific rules.
  • Regularly review rule statuses and error reports to maintain governance standards.
  • Keep rule descriptions and scores updated to reflect current policies.

View details for a specific rule

To see detailed information about a specific rule:

  • Click on the rule name in the list.
  • The rule details will open in a side panel.
  • The rule details page includes:
    • Rule Scores: Visual representation of rule scores.
    • Rule Description: Explanation of the rule's purpose.
    • Run Status: Current status of the rule evaluation (such as Failed, In progress, Successful).
    • Last Evaluated: Date and time of the last rule evaluation.
    • Error Summary: Details of any errors encountered during evaluation.
    • Status Not Found / Errors: Additional error details with links to view more information.
    • Rule Scores: Visual indicators (such as percentage, color-coded) showing rule performance.
    • Rule Description: Further explanation of the rule.
    • Run Status: Current execution status (such as Failed, In progress, Successful).
