View governance rule scores and understand how rule updates and asset metadata changes recalculate governance scores.

When a governance rule is created, updated, or deleted, the system automatically evaluates the rule against existing assets and recalculates governance scores in real time. When metadata fields of an asset change, the relevant governance scores automatically recalculate to reflect the latest asset attributes.

On the Scoring page, you can view aggregated governance dimension scores, the rules that contribute to each dimension, individual rule scores, and the last evaluation timestamp for each contributing rule.

View rule scores:

  1. Go to Governance > Rules.
  2. Select the rule name in the list. The rule details panel opens on the right side of the page.
  3. In the rule details view, you can see the Rule Scores :
    • Visual indicators such as percentages (100%, 50%, 0%) with color coding.
    • These scores help assess the rule's performance and compliance.
    • You can also see the Rule Description and Run Status for quick assessment.

Check run status:

The Run Status indicates the latest evaluation:

  • Failed: The rule encountered errors.
  • In progress: Evaluation is ongoing.
  • Successful: The rule passed evaluation.
  • The Last Evaluated timestamp shows when the rule was last run.

Handle errors and failures:

If a rule evaluation fails:
  • The Run Status will show "Failed" with a red icon.
  • You can review the Error Summary for specific issues and take corrective actions. Select View details to see the details of each error.
  • Common issues include missing data, validation failures, or configuration errors.
  • Based on the error message, update the rule configuration or data:
    • Correct missing or invalid data.
    • Adjust rule parameters or thresholds.
    • Fix data validation issues.

View governance score trends: You can view trends for the generated governance scores that provide a visual representation of how rule performance metrics evolve across different time periods.

  1. Go to Governance > Rules.
  2. Select the rule for which you want to view the generated score.
  3. Within the Rule Scores page, you can view the generated governance score for the associated assets.
  4. Select the trend icon next to the parameter for which a governance score is generated.
This will display a graph with the relevant details which helps in visualizing the score trends over a period. For more information, see View asset quality scores .

View score roll-ups for technical assets

Technical asset score roll-ups show governance scores across the datasource, database, schema, and table hierarchy.

Use technical asset score roll-ups to review governance score health at each parent level of the containment hierarchy. Parent assets use the average of their own asset-level rule scores and the rolled-up scores from their child assets.

  1. Open a datasource, database, schema, or table asset.
  2. Open the Scoring page.
    The page shows the governance score for the selected technical asset. Datasource, database, schema, and table assets can show roll-up scores from their child assets. Field assets show only their own rule scores.
  3. Review the parent asset score.
    The score is calculated as an average of the parent asset's own rule scores and the rolled-up scores from its children. For example, if a table has an asset-level rule score of 60 and a field roll-up score of 80, the table score is 70.
  4. Refresh the score after a child asset score changes.
    The parent asset score recalculates to include the latest child score.
Scores roll up from tables to schemas, from schemas to databases, and from databases to datasources. Assets with no child scores and no asset-level rule scores show no score rather than zero.

View roll-up calculation details

Review the rules and related assets that contribute to a parent asset's governance score.

Preview: This feature is currently in Preview for select workspaces and might be subject to change before general availability.

Use roll-up calculation details to see whether a parent asset score comes from rules evaluated on the asset or from scores rolled up from child assets. The score on the Scoring page matches the score shown on the asset summary.

  1. Open a parent asset, such as a datasource, database, schema, table, domain, data product, or dashboard.
  2. Open the Scoring page.
  3. Review the Rules area.
    The area shows rules evaluated on the selected asset, including each rule score. If the asset has no own rules, the area is not shown.
  4. Review the Related assets area.
    The area shows child assets that contribute rolled-up scores to the selected asset. Related asset rows are selectable and open the child asset.
  5. Review the parent asset score.
    The score reflects the asset's own rule scores and the rolled-up child asset scores. When a rule score or child asset score changes, the parent asset score recalculates to match the latest values.
The Scoring page separates the asset's own rules from related asset contributions, so you can identify which scores affect the parent asset's roll-up score.
