When working with a new workspace without business or technical assets, you can use the Gio™ AI Assistant to quickly populate your catalog with critical business terms and definitions.

Business terms typically represent critical data in your organization. Creating a glossary of business terms helps establish a common vocabulary, enables governance, and relates technical assets to business concepts.

The Gio™ AI Assistant suggests typical critical business terms for your domain and helps you create them. To create business terms with Gio™ AI Assistant, perform the following:

  1. Go to Governance > Business Assets and select the Business Terms asset type.
    Note: The Gio™ AI Assistant can only create assets of type Business Term. Other asset types are not supported for creation through this workflow.
  2. Open the Gio™ AI Assistant conversation interface.
  3. Determine the primary business domain for your workspace and ask for typical critical business terms in your domain. Use natural language prompts such as:
    • "What are typical CDEs in the finance domain?"
    • "What critical business terms should I define for healthcare data?"
    • "Suggest critical business terms for my customer data domain"
  4. The Gio™ AI Assistant generates up to 25 recommended business terms for your domain, along with brief descriptions of each term.
    Tip: Each query returns a maximum of 25 recommendations. To retrieve additional recommendations, submit the same query again. If a term already exists, Gio™ AI Assistant identifies it instead of duplicating it.
  5. Customize the list if needed. Ask follow-up questions such as:
    • "Can you add more terms related to compliance?"
    • "Can you show additional assets related to Finance?"
    • "What other critical terms should I consider for the Healthcare domain?"
  6. Ask the Gio™ AI Assistant to add the business terms by clicking Add to Business Terms.
  7. The Gio™ AI Assistant requests your confirmation before making changes.
  8. Review the list of terms to be created and approve the action. The Gio™ AI Assistant adds these terms to your catalog as business glossary entries.
    Tip: Duplicate names are prevented automatically. Use domain-specific prompts for better results.

Your catalog now contains a glossary of critical business terms for your domain. These terms can be used to classify technical assets, establish governance policies, and create a common vocabulary across your organization.

Update business terms with Gio™ AI Assistant

When your workspace already contains business terms but no technical assets, you can use the Gio™ AI Assistant to update existing terms and add new ones.
  1. Go to Governance > Business Assets and select the Business Terms asset type.
  2. Open the Gio™ AI Assistant and request additional terms for your domain using prompts such as: "Suggest more CDEs for the manufacturing domain"
  3. The Gio™ AI Assistant displays:
    • Existing terms not yet marked as CDE
    • New suggested terms
  4. Review and select the terms you want to add or update.
  5. Click Add and Update Assets.
  6. The Gio™ AI Assistant requests your confirmation before making changes.
  7. Confirm the changes. The selected terms are updated or added to your catalog.

Your catalog reflects the updated set of business terms, ensuring completeness and accuracy for your domain.
