Alerts detect unexpected changes in your data assets and help you respond quickly. When an Observer identifies a condition that exceeds predefined thresholds or indicates an anomaly, the Data Integrity Suite generates an alert and sends email notifications. You can view, sort, filter, and close alerts on the Alerts page to investigate issues and take corrective action.

Before you can receive alerts, you must create an Observer to monitor your data assets. Once an Observer is active, the Data Integrity Suite continuously monitors your data and generates alerts when anomalies are detected.

The Alerts page displays all alerts with the following information:

  • Observation Alerts chart: A visual representation showing the total number of alerts. Hover over the chart to see the count of critical and warning alerts. Click a specific alert type segments to filter and view only those alerts.
  • Asset Name: The name of the asset (table or column) with a critical or warning alert.
  • Asset Parent: The parent table or schema containing the asset.
  • Alert Level: The severity of the alert (Warning in yellow or Critical in red), along with the confidence percentage. Non-alerts appear in green if you've selected Include Non-Alerts.
  • Alert Type: The category of alert that was triggered (Freshness, Volume, Data Drift, or Schema Drift).
  • Summary: A description of the alert's impact on the data asset.
  • Raised On: The date and time the alert was generated.
  1. Go to Observability > Alerts.
The Alerts page appears with all generated alerts.
  2. To filter alerts by type, hover over the Observation Alerts chart to see the count of critical and warning alerts, then click the corresponding alert type segment.
The alert list updates to show only the selected alert type.
  3. To search for a specific alert, enter a complete or partial alert type name or asset name in the search field.
The alert list filters to show matching results.
  4. To include events that don't meet your alert threshold, select Include Non-Alerts.
For example, if you've set a confidence level between 60% and 80%, events below 60% confidence appear as non-alerts in green.
  5. To sort alerts, click any column header to organize by that column in ascending order. Click again to reverse to descending order.
Alerts are sorted by Raised On (most recent first) by default.
  6. Click an asset name to open the alert details panel on the right.
The Summary and Details tabs appear.
  7. In the Summary tab, review the graph showing the table's row count and associated rule details over time.
Hover over the graph to see specific row counts and dates. This helps you understand the trend leading up to the alert. Select a time period from the drop-down to view data over different intervals (1 Week, 1 Month, 1 Year, or All).
  8. In the Details tab, review the generated alerts and associated asset information.
  9. To close an alert after investigation, click the ellipsis icon next to the asset name, then click Close Alert.
Alternatively, click the asset name to open the alert details panel, then click Close Alert. When you close an alert, it's removed from the list and the alert count in the Observation Alerts chart decreases. Note: Currently, you cannot reopen closed alerts.
The alert is marked as resolved and no longer appears in your alert list.
  10. After closing an alert or taking corrective action, monitor the impact of your changes by viewing data over different time periods. Select a period from the drop-down to see how your data has changed:
    • 1 Week: Seven days of data leading up to the alert.
    • 1 Month: 30 days of data leading up to the alert.
    • 1 Year: 365 days of data leading up to the alert.
    • All: All available historical data leading up to the alert.
You can now see all alerts, filter by type, sort by criteria, review details, and close resolved alerts to keep your monitoring focused and actionable.

View alerts for a specific Observer

Filter alerts to see only those generated by a particular Observer, so you can investigate and reconfigure as needed.

Each Observer monitors specific data assets and generates alerts when anomalies are detected. You can view all alerts associated with a single Observer to focus your investigation.
  1. Go to Observability > Observers.
  2. Click the name of the Observer for which you want to view alerts.
The alerts associated with that Observer display.
You can now investigate all alerts from a specific Observer and edit or reconfigure the Observer if needed.

Finetune alerts

Significance tuning sets the minimum change in value required to trigger an alert. The system calculates this change by comparing your current and previous profile runs. To use significance tuning effectively, you'll analyze your data and choose the right sensitivity level for each alert. This approach helps you generate meaningful alerts while reducing false positives. Your alerts trigger only when necessary, giving you a monitoring system that's both effective and actionable.

To set the significance tuning of an alert:

  1. Go to Observability > Observers.
  2. Click Create Observer.
  3. On the observer rules pages, click the gear icon associated with the corresponding observer rule to set the change in the Minimum change in value to generate alert.
Note: This parameter can be configured only for Volume and Data Drift rules.
  4. While configuring confidence based alerts, type the value in the text box Minimum change in value to generate alert.
  5. You can remove the values that are not required and click Save.
