Configurable asset tabs enable you to organize catalog assets into custom tabs based on specific filtering criteria.
About configurable asset tabs
By default, the Catalog displays a fixed set of system tabs that organize assets by type. Configurable asset tabs extend this functionality by allowing you to create custom tabs that filter and display assets based on specific criteria.
Each custom tab can be configured to show assets that match defined filter rules, such as:
- Asset class (Technical or Business)
- Asset type (such as Datasource, Dataset, Field)
- Asset properties (such as Status, Owner, Environment
Accessing configurable tabs
For creating and managing tabs: Go to to access the Tabs section. Here you can create new tabs, edit existing custom tabs, reorder tabs, hide tabs, and duplicate tabs.
For viewing and using tabs: Go to Catalog to view the tab navigation bar at the top of the asset list. Click any tab to view assets that match that tab's filter criteria.
Key features of configurable asset tabs are:
- Admin-only configuration: Only workspace managers can create, edit, reorder, and hide tabs. Regular users can view and use the configured tabs but cannot modify them.
- Dynamic filtering: Tabs display assets that match the defined filter rules in real time. When asset properties change, the tab content updates automatically.
- System tab protection: Default system tabs (Datasources, Datasets, Fields, Technical Assets, Business Assets, Tags, Jobs) cannot be deleted or have their filter configurations modified. However, they can be hidden from view.
- Flexible filter logic: Tabs support both AND (Match All) and OR (Match Any) filter logic, allowing you to create complex filtering scenarios.
- Single asset class scope: Each tab displays assets from a single asset class (Technical or Business). This ensures a consistent and focused view for users.
- Workspace-wide visibility: Custom tabs created by workspace managers are visible to all users in the workspace. All users can view and filter assets using the configured tabs.
Configurable asset tabs are useful in several scenarios where organizations create tabs for:
- Production, Staging, and Development assets to help users quickly locate assets in their target environment.
- Specific business domains (Sales, Marketing, Finance) to organize assets by business function.
- Displaying Active, Archived, or In-review assets, helping users focus on relevant data.
- High-priority, Medium-priority, and Low-priority assets to highlight important data.
- Displaying assets with specific data quality scores or validation statuses.
