Domains are a first-class governed asset type. They serve as organizational containers that help you structure your data governance framework. Domains enable you to group related business and technical assets, establish clear ownership, and maintain hierarchical relationships across your data landscape.

When you open a domain, the Details page provides a centralized location to view and manage all aspects of the domain. The page includes sections for child domains and grouped assets, allowing you to organize your data governance structure efficiently.

  1. Go to Governance > Domains.
  2. Review the domain list showing the Name and Description for each domain.
  3. Click Create Domain to create a new root-level domain.
  4. In the Create Asset dialog, enter a unique name for the domain.
Note: Domain names must be unique within your system. If the name isn't unique, an error message displays.
  5. Optionally, enter a description and add tags to categorize the domain.
  6. Click Create Domain.
The system validates the domain. Once created, the domain opens automatically.
Your domain is created and appears in the Domains list. You can now assign assets to it or create child domains:.
You can also edit or delete the domain as needed:
  • Edit a domain: Locate the domain, click the ellipsis, select Edit, modify the properties, and click Save.
  • Delete a domain: Locate the domain, click the ellipsis, select Delete, and confirm.
Warning: Deleting is permanent and removes all ownership assignments. Child domains are also deleted.
