You can create child domains under parent domains to establish hierarchical relationships.
Domain hierarchies enable multi-level asset organization by allowing you to create nested domains, where child domains can exist under parent domains, and further child domains can exist under those child domains. The hierarchy supports up to two levels of nesting:
-
Parent domain: A root-level domain at the top of the hierarchy
-
Child domain: A domain that exists under a parent domain
-
Child of child domain: A domain that exists under a child domain, creating a third level in the hierarchy
To create a child domain:
The domain hierarchy is established. Child domains inherit asset groupings from their parent domains and maintain the hierarchical relationships.
After managing domain hierarchies, you can:
- Group assets with specific domains in the hierarchy
- View all assets associated with a domain and its child domains
- Edit or delete domains while maintaining the hierarchy
Modifying domain hierarchies:
You can change the hierarchical relationships of domains at any time by editing the parent domain assignment:
-
Promote a child domain to parent domain: Go to the child domain details page, click Edit, and from the parent dropdown, select Root to make the subdomain a parent domain.
-
Make a parent domain a child of another domain: Go to the parent domain details page, click Edit, and from the parent dropdown, select another domain to make the current parent domain a child of that domain.
