Manage relationships between technical assets and business assets to ensure that related business context displays inline in technical asset details.

Establishing relationships between technical and business assets enables Data Stewards and Governance Users to understand business meaning and go to key business entities directly from the technical asset details view.

  1. Go to Catalog > Technical Assets to view the list of technical assets.
  2. Click a technical asset name to open its details view.
  3. Go to the Relationships tab to view all existing relationships for this asset.
  4. Click Create Relationship to establish a new relationship between this technical asset and a business asset.
  5. Select the relationship type Maps to Business Terms from the dropdown menu.
  6. Click Select Assets to view all available business terms in the workspace.
  7. Choose the desired business terms.
  8. Click Create Relationship to finalize the process.
  9. Verify that the relationship appears in the Relationships tab and that the related business terms displays in the related business assets section of the technical asset details view.
  10. Optional: Click the business term in the side panel to view additional details about that specific business term.

View relationships for a technical asset

To view all relationships for a technical asset, organized by relationship type:
  1. Go to Catalog > Technical Assets and locate the technical asset.
  2. Click the technical asset name to open its details view.
  3. Go to the Relationships tab.
    All relationships for this asset display, organized by relationship type.
  4. Click the Filter button on the side panel to see a comprehensive list of relationship types along with their counts.
  5. Check the box next to a relationship type to display only that type of relationship on the page.
  6. Click the Information button next to a relationship type to open the Information panel.
    The Information panel displays all assets related through that relationship type.

Delete relationships between technical and business assets

To delete a relationship between a technical asset and a business asset:
  1. Go to Catalog > Technical Assets and locate the technical asset.
  2. Click the technical asset name to open its details view.
  3. Go to the Relationships tab to view all relationships for this asset.
  4. Locate the relationship you want to delete.
    You can use the Filter option to narrow down the list if needed.
  5. Click the ellipsis next to the relationship type or related asset name and select Delete.
  6. Review the relationship details in the Delete Relationship dialog to confirm you are deleting the correct relationship.
  7. Click Delete to confirm and remove the relationship.
    The system deletes the relationship immediately.
  8. Verify that the relationship no longer appears in the Relationships tab and that the related business asset is no longer displayed in the related business assets section of the technical asset details view.
    Warning: A successful deletion cannot be undone. Ensure you are deleting the correct relationship before confirming.
