Related business assets appear inline in the technical asset details view, providing quick access to business context without leaving the current page. This includes business terms that are directly connected to your technical assets.
To view related business assets:
- Go to Catalog > Technical Assets. The Catalog page opens, displaying the list of technical assets.
- Locate the technical asset you want to view. You can use the search function or browse the asset list to find the asset.
- Click the technical asset name to open its details view. The asset details page opens with the Details tab active by default.

Note: The related business assets appear as an inline, read-only list in the asset details view.

Review the related assets displayed.
The display shows the asset name and type, allowing you to quickly identify the business context for the technical asset. You can see at a glance which business terms define the asset.

Click any related asset to go to that asset's details page.
This enables you to explore business context and understand downstream impact without navigating through multiple tabs or menus.
- The related asset opens in the same view or a new tab, depending on your browser settings.
You have successfully viewed the related business assets for a technical asset. You can now understand the business context and go to related business entities directly from the technical asset details view.
Example: Viewing business terms for a database column
When you open the details view for a database column technical asset, the related business assets section displays all business terms associated with that column. For example, if the column is related to customer information, you might see business terms such as "Customer ID," "Customer Name," and "Customer Email" displayed as clickable links.
You can click any of these terms to view their definitions and understand how the technical asset relates to your business data model.
After viewing related business assets, you can:
- Click a related asset to view its details and explore business context.
- Go to the Relationships tab to create or modify relationships.
- Explore asset lineage to understand data flow and dependencies.
- Add tags or properties to assets to enhance metadata.
