Use custom asset tabs to quickly find and view assets that match specific criteria.

Custom asset tabs provide a convenient way to view assets that match specific criteria without having to manually apply filters each time. When you click a custom tab, the Catalog tab of main navigation displays all assets that match the tab's filter rules.

The tab content updates automatically as assets are added, modified, or deleted. If an asset no longer matches the tab's filter criteria, it is automatically removed from the tab view.

  1. Go to Catalog. The Catalog page opens, displaying the available tabs.
  2. Click a custom tab to view the assets in that tab.
  3. Review the assets displayed. The tab name is highlighted to indicate it is the active tab.
  4. Review the assets displayed in the tab. Assets are displayed in card or list view, depending on your view preference. You can sort and search within the tab results using the standard Catalog search and sort features.
  5. Click an asset to view its details.
  6. Review the asset details panel, which shows comprehensive information about the selected asset, including metadata, lineage, relationships, and quality scores.
  7. To return to the full asset list, click the All Assets tab or any other tab.

You have successfully viewed assets in a custom tab. You can now explore asset details, trace lineage, view relationships, and perform other Catalog operations on the displayed assets.

Example: Viewing production assets

To view all production assets in your Catalog:

  1. Go to Catalog.
  2. Click the custom Production Assets tab (if available).
  3. The Catalog displays all assets where the Environment property is set to "Production".
  4. Use the search bar to further filter the results if needed.
  5. Click an asset to view its details, lineage, or relationships.

After viewing assets in a custom tab, you can:

  • Explore asset lineage to understand data flow and dependencies.
  • View asset relationships to see how assets are connected.
  • Add tags or properties to assets to enhance metadata.
  • Create data quality rules for assets in the tab.
  • Export asset information for reporting or analysis.
