Create custom tabs to organize catalog assets based on specific filtering criteria. Custom tabs help you quickly find assets that match your needs.

Note: You must be a member of the Catalog Managers user group to create custom tabs. Ask your workspace manager to add you to this group if needed.

When you create a custom tab, you define filter rules that determine which assets appear in that tab. The tab displays all assets that match your filter criteria in real time.

Each custom tab must be associated with a single asset class (Technical or Business). You can use multiple filter conditions with AND (Match All) or OR (Match Any) logic to create complex filtering scenarios.

  1. Go to Configuration > Catalog > Navigation.
The Catalog Configuration page opens, displaying the Tabs section with all current tabs (system and custom) listed on the left side.
  2. Click Add Tab.
  3. Enter a Tab name that describes the tab's purpose.
Use a clear, descriptive name such as "Production Databases" or "High-priority Assets". The name can be up to 100 characters.
  4. Select an Asset Class from the dropdown.
Choose either Technical or Business. All assets in this tab must belong to the selected class.
  5. Define your filter rules by selecting asset types and properties.
    1. Select a Field to filter by (for example, Environment, Description, or Score).
    2. Select an Operator (for example, equals, contains, starts with).
    3. Enter or select a Value for the filter.
    4. Click Add Filters to add a new filter condition.
By default, multiple filter conditions use AND logic (all conditions must match). To use OR logic (any condition can match), select the Match Any option.
  6. Review your filter configuration in the preview pane. The preview shows a sample of assets that match your filter criteria. This helps you verify that your filters are configured correctly.
  7. Click Save to save the new tab.
The custom tab is created and immediately appears in the Catalog navigation. All users in the workspace can now view and use this tab. A notification banner confirms the tab has been created.

Your custom tab is now available in the Catalog. Users can click the tab to view all assets that match your filter criteria. The tab content updates automatically as assets are added, modified, or deleted.

Example: Creating a Production Assets tab

To create a tab that shows only production assets:

  1. Go to Configuration > Catalog > Navigation.
  2. Click Add Tab.
  3. Enter Tab Name: "Production Assets"
  4. Select Asset Class: "Technical"
  5. Add a filter: Field = "Environment", Operator = "equals", Value = "Production"
  6. Click Save.

The "Production Assets" tab now displays all technical assets where the Environment property is set to "Production".

After creating a custom tab, you can:

  • Click the tab to view and use the configured tabs.
  • Reorder tabs to change their display sequence in the Catalog navigation.
  • Hide tabs from users if they are no longer needed.
