The Data Quality usage page displays the volume of data processed by Data Quality Assessment and Data Quality Pipelines alongside your allowance amounts. This information helps you monitor consumption, plan capacity, and understand your usage patterns.

Overview

The Data Quality usage page provides visibility into how much data your organization processes through Data Quality features. This metric is essential for:

  • Monitoring your current consumption against your subscription allowance.
  • Planning future capacity and resource allocation.
  • Understanding usage trends over time.
  • Supporting pricing and billing decisions.

You can access the usage page from the main navigation menu by selecting Account > Usage.

Usage metrics

The Data Quality usage page displays two primary metrics:

Metric Description Use Case
Data Quality Assessment The total volume of data processed when running Data Quality rules to assess data quality. This includes all records evaluated against your defined quality rules. Track how much data you are profiling and validating through quality assessments.
Data Quality Pipelines The total volume of data processed when executing Data Quality pipelines for data remediation, cleansing, and transformation. Monitor data processed through remediation workflows and pipeline executions.

Usage display format

Each metric displays the following information:

  • Current Usage: The total volume of data processed during the current billing period, displayed in gigabytes (GB) or terabytes (TB).
  • Allowance: Your subscription allowance for that metric, displayed in the same unit as current usage.
  • Percentage Used: A visual indicator showing what percentage of your allowance has been consumed.
  • Time Period: The billing period for which usage is being tracked (for example, monthly or annual).

Usage charts and trends

The usage page includes visual charts that display your usage patterns over time. These charts help you:

  • Identify peak usage periods and trends.
  • Forecast future usage based on historical patterns.
  • Detect anomalies or unexpected spikes in data processing.
  • Plan for capacity upgrades or adjustments.

Charts are available for both Data Quality Assessment and Remediation metrics, showing daily or weekly aggregations depending on your selected time range.

Understanding your allowance

Your allowance represents the maximum volume of data you are entitled to process during a billing period based on your subscription plan. Allowances are determined by:

  • Your current subscription tier or plan.
  • Any custom agreements or amendments to your contract.
  • Add-on purchases or upgrades.
Note: If you approach or exceed your allowance, contact Precisely Support to discuss options such as upgrading your plan or purchasing additional capacity.

How usage is calculated

Data volume is measured in the following ways:

  • Data Quality Assessment: Measured by the total number of records evaluated when running quality rules, regardless of the outcome (pass or fail).
  • Data Quality Pipelines: Measured by the total number of records processed through pipeline transformations, including input records, intermediate transformations, and output records.

Usage is aggregated at the workspace level and includes all executions by all users within that workspace.

Best practices for managing usage

To optimize your Data Quality usage and manage costs effectively:

  • Monitor regularly: Check the usage page weekly or monthly to stay informed about consumption trends.
  • Set alerts: Work with your workspace administrator to establish alerts when usage reaches a certain threshold (for example, 80% of allowance).
  • Optimize rules and pipelines: Review your quality rules and pipeline configurations to ensure they are processing only necessary data.
  • Schedule executions strategically: Distribute pipeline executions across different times to avoid usage spikes.
  • Review entitlements: Periodically review your subscription plan to ensure it aligns with your organization's data quality needs.
  • Plan for growth: If you anticipate increased data volumes, contact Precisely Support in advance to adjust your allowance.
