Access adoption metrics in the Catalog to monitor your catalog program health, track contributions, identify data quality gaps, and see where stewardship effort is concentrated.

1. Go to Catalog > Overview.
   The Overview tab displays all adoption and coverage metrics organized by section.
2. Filter the dashboard by asset type using the toggle buttons.
   Select All assets to view metrics across your entire catalog, or select CDEs only to focus on assets classified as Confidential Data Elements. The metrics refresh automatically to reflect your selection.
3. Use the time range buttons to filter data by period.
   Select from these options:
   • 30D (default): Shows metrics for the last 30 days
   • 15D: Shows metrics for the last 15 days
   • 7D: Shows metrics for the last 7 days
   • 1D: Shows metrics for the last 24 hours
   • Calendar icon: Select a custom date range
   The metrics refresh automatically to reflect your selected time period, allowing you to analyze adoption trends across different time-frames.
4. Review the summary cards to get a quick overview of your catalog program.
   • Contributions: Total number of asset updates made by users in the selected period.
   • Quality Coverage: Percentage of assets with quality scores targeted by Quality Rules.
   • Governance Coverage: Percentage of assets with governance scores targeted by Governance Rules.
   • High Risk Assets: Count of assets missing coverage across more than one dimension (classification, semantic type, profiling, quality, and governance).
5. Review the Contributions tile to track overall activity.
   The large number displays total contribution events during your selected period. The trend indicator (up or down arrow) shows whether contributions increased or decreased compared to the previous period. Green indicates growth; red indicates decline. This tile helps answer: Are people making edits, and is contribution activity increasing or decreasing over time? Two tabs appear below the tile: Top Assets and Top Asset Types.
6. Review the Contributor Rate tile to measure user participation.
   The percentage shows what share of your workspace users are actively contributing. A progress bar visualizes this percentage. Below the percentage, a count displays active users (for example, "7 of 105 users active"). This tile helps answer: What percentage of catalog users are actively contributing? Two tabs appear below the tile: Top Contributors and Contribution Activity.
7. Use the tabs within adoption metric tiles to drill into detailed breakdowns.
   • Top Assets: Shows individual assets with the most edits. Columns: Asset (name), Type (asset type), Edits (total contribution events).
   • Top Asset Types: Shows asset types with the most activity. Columns: Asset Type (catalog asset type name), Assets (count of distinct assets of that type that were edited), Edits (total contribution events on assets of that type).
   • Top Contributors: Shows your most active users. Columns: User (display name), Groups (user group memberships), Edits (count of contribution events), Tags (count of tag additions). Hover over the Edits or Tags column header to see a tooltip explaining that these are event counts, not distinct assets.
   • Contribution Activity: Shows what types of edits are occurring. Columns: Activity (behavior label such as "Asset created" or "Field value added"), Count (number of events of that type), Trend (percentage change compared to the previous period). Trends are color-coded: green for increases, red for decreases.
8. Review the coverage tiles to assess governance readiness.
   • Classification Coverage: Percentage of assets classified with CDE and PII. A grid shows the distribution of classified versus unclassified assets, with separate breakdowns for business and technical assets.
     • Review how business and technical assets are classified as CDE, PII, both, or neither.
     • Identify assets that are fully classified, partially classified, or unclassified.
     • Use the results to identify assets that may require classification review.
   • Quality Coverage: Percentage of assets with quality scores targeted by Quality Rules. A grid shows coverage distribution, and a platform-specific breakdown lists coverage percentages for each connected data platform (for example, Databricks).
     • Review assessed and unassessed technical assets.
     • Compare quality coverage across connected platforms.
     • Identify technical assets that do not have quality score information.
   • Semantic Type Coverage: Percentage of fields with Semantic Type identified. A table lists the top semantic types by name, qualifier, source, and asset count. A platform-specific breakdown shows coverage percentages for each platform.
     • Review semantic type coverage for field assets.
     • Compare semantic type coverage across connected platforms.
     • Identify fields that are missing semantic type information.
   • Profiling Coverage: Percentage of databases profiled. A platform-specific breakdown lists profiling coverage percentages for each connected platform, with progress bars showing completion status.
     • Review profiling coverage for dataset assets.
     • Compare profiling coverage across connected platforms.
     • Identify datasets that do not have profiling information.
   • Governance Coverage: Percentage of assets with governance scores targeted by Governance Rules. Separate breakdowns show business assets and technical assets. A list shows top assets by name with their governance coverage percentages displayed as progress bars.
     • Review governance coverage for business assets and technical assets.
     • Review governance coverage by domain.
     • Identify assets that are missing governance score information.
   • High-Risk Assets: Count of assets missing coverage across more than one dimension (classification, semantic type, profiling, quality, and governance).
     • Review assets with multiple coverage gaps.
     • View missing dimensions for each asset, including classification, quality, semantic type, profiling, and governance coverage.
     • Use risk levels to prioritize remediation efforts.
   • Analyze Catalog Health and Coverage: Use adoption, coverage, governance, and risk metrics together to evaluate catalog health.
     • Review contribution activity and contributor participation.
     • Compare classification, quality, semantic type, profiling, and governance coverage metrics.
     • Identify areas that need stewardship effort.
     • Prioritize assets with incomplete metadata, governance coverage, or elevated risk.
9. Analyze the metrics to assess your catalog program health and identify next steps.

   Metric	Usage
   Contributions	Track whether user engagement is increasing or decreasing over time. Rising contributions indicate growing adoption; declining contributions suggest you need to re-engage your stewardship community.
   Contributor Rate	Identify what percentage of your user base is actively contributing. A low rate indicates participation gaps and opportunities to expand stewardship.
   Top Contributors	Find your most active stewards and identify where participation gaps exist. Use this to recognize top contributors and recruit new stewards from inactive users.
   Contribution Activity	See what types of edits users are making (for example, adding descriptions, tags, or relationships). This shows whether stewardship effort is focused on the right activities.
   Top Assets and Top Asset Types	Determine where effort is concentrated and which assets or asset types need more attention. Use this to balance stewardship effort across your catalog.
   Coverage metrics	Spot governance gaps. Low classification or profiling coverage shows assets that need attention. Low quality coverage shows assets without quality rules applied. Low governance coverage indicates assets lacking governance scores.
   High Risk Assets	Prioritize remediation efforts. Assets missing coverage across multiple dimensions pose the highest risk to data governance, so address them first.
