Access adoption metrics in the Catalog to monitor your catalog program health, track contributions, identify data quality gaps, and see where stewardship effort is concentrated.

The Catalog Overview dashboard gives you a complete view of your catalog program health. Monitor how actively your team is contributing, track engagement trends, identify governance gaps, and see where stewardship effort is concentrated.

The dashboard is organized into three areas:

  • Summary cards: Four quick-reference metrics at the top: Contributions, Quality Coverage, Governance Coverage, and High Risk Assets.
  • Adoption metrics: Detailed tiles showing Contributions and Contributor Rate with breakdowns by assets, types, users, and activity types.
  • Coverage tiles: Five governance readiness metrics: Classification Coverage, Quality Coverage, Semantic Type Coverage, Profiling Coverage, and Governance Coverage.

Most tiles include detailed metric views. Tables within those views follow a consistent pattern: they are sorted by the most relevant metric in descending order and show the top results (typically top 10). Hover over column headers to see tooltips explaining what each metric represents.

Use the metrics as follows:

Metric Usage
Contributions Track whether user engagement is increasing or decreasing over time. Rising contributions indicate growing adoption; declining contributions suggest you need to re-engage your stewardship community.
Contributor Rate Identify what percentage of your user base is actively contributing. A low rate indicates participation gaps and opportunities to expand stewardship.
Top Contributors Find your most active stewards and identify where participation gaps exist. Use this to recognize top contributors and recruit new stewards from inactive users.
Contribution Activity See what types of edits users are making, for example, adding descriptions, tags, or relationships. This shows whether stewardship effort is focused on the right activities.
Top Assets and Top Asset Types Determine where effort is concentrated and which assets or asset types need more attention. Use this to balance stewardship effort across your catalog.
Coverage metrics Spot governance gaps. Low classification or profiling coverage shows assets that need attention. Low quality coverage shows assets without quality rules applied. Low governance coverage indicates assets lacking governance scores.
High Risk Assets Prioritize remediation efforts. Assets missing coverage across multiple dimensions pose the highest risk to data governance, so address them first.
  1. Go to Catalog > Overview.
    The Overview page displays all adoption and coverage metrics organized by metric area.
  2. Filter the dashboard by asset type using the toggle buttons.
    Select All assets to view metrics across your entire catalog, or select CDEs only to focus on assets classified as Confidential Data Elements. The metrics refresh automatically to reflect your selection.
  3. Use the time range buttons to filter data by period.
    Select from these options:
    • 30D (default): Shows metrics for the last 30 days
    • 15D: Shows metrics for the last 15 days
    • 7D: Shows metrics for the last 7 days
    • 1D: Shows metrics for the last 24 hours
    • Calendar icon: Select a custom date range
    The metrics refresh automatically to reflect your selected time period, allowing you to analyze adoption trends across different time-frames.
  4. Review the summary cards to get a quick overview of your catalog program.
    The summary cards show contribution totals, quality coverage, governance coverage, and high-risk asset counts for the selected period. Use them to identify adoption activity and coverage gaps before reviewing the detailed metric tiles.
  5. Review the Contributions tile to track overall activity.
    The large number displays total contribution events during your selected period. The trend indicator shows whether contributions increased or decreased compared to the previous period. Detail views show Top Assets and Top Asset Types.
  6. Review the Contributor Rate tile to measure user participation.
    The percentage shows what share of your workspace users are actively contributing. The count below the percentage displays active users, such as "7 of 105 users active". Detail views show Top Contributors and Contribution Activity.
  7. Use the detailed views within adoption metric tiles to drill into breakdowns.
    The detailed views show the assets, asset types, contributors, and activity types with the most contribution events. Use column-header tooltips to confirm how event counts, distinct assets, tag additions, and trend percentages are calculated.
  8. Review the coverage tiles to assess governance readiness.
    Use coverage tiles to compare classification, quality, semantic type, profiling, and governance coverage. Review high-risk assets to find assets missing coverage across multiple dimensions. Use these metrics together to prioritize stewardship effort.
