Set up IBM Db2 for z/OS as a data connection for continuous replication and mainframe replication pipelines in the Data Integrity Suite.

Before you configure IBM Db2 for z/OS for replication, ensure you have the following:

  • Db2 for z/OS database server hostname or IP address
  • Database name
  • Port number (default: 448)
  • User credentials (username and password)
  • z/OS server details (hostname and port)
  • Private key path for authentication
  • Agent configured to access Db2 for z/OS
  • Job card and job library information
  • ISPF library path

IBM Db2 for z/OS connection enables continuous replication and mainframe replication, facilitating real-time data transfer from Db2 databases to target systems. You can configure Db2 for z/OS as a source for continuous replication or as a target for mainframe replication pipelines.

  1. In the Data Integrity Suite, navigate to Datasources.
  2. Click Add connection or select an existing PostgreSQL connection to edit.
  3. For detailed configuration instructions, refer to the IBM Db2 for z/OS documentation.
  4. Toggle ON the replication option to use the conenction in replciation pipelines
  5. Complete the following fields for replication:
Table 1. Mainframe replication configuration fields
    Field Description
Continuous replication engine Specifies the continuous replication engine to determine how data is continuously replicated from the source to the target system.
Add Engine Opens the Add runtime engine window.
Note: Only continuous replication engine can be configured. When a new replication engine is added, it appears as the default option from the dropdown menu.
Mainframe replication engine Specifies the mainframe replication engine to define how data from mainframe systems is replicated to the target environment, ensuring synchronization and consistency.
Note: The mainframe replication engine handles only mainframe replication. You also need a continuous replication engine for testing connections and cataloging.
Add Engine Opens the Add runtime engine window.
    Note:
    • Only mainframe replication engine can be configured.
    • When a new replication engine is added, it appears as the default option from the dropdown menu.
Server Specifies the server name for the z/OS server.
Port number Specifies the port number within the range of port values for the capture server. The default value is 2626.
Private key path Specifies the location of the private key.
Agent The value 'Specify' appears before fetching the list of agents from the server.
Specify agent Specifies the name of agent. This is a mandatory field.
Job card Identifies the job within the Operating System, in the spool, and in the scheduler. The parameters in the JOB statement help the operating system allocate the correct scheduler, necessary CPU time, and issue notifications to the user.
Job library Identify the JCL DD statement specifying the LOADLIB path where DMXDC is installed on the z/OS system. This is required to execute the JCL job. If none are set, z/OS only searches public libraries.
ISPF library Specifies the path where DMXCDC ISPF libraries are installed.
  6. Click Test Connection to verify that the connection is configured correctly.
  7. Click Save to save the Db2 for z/OS replication connection.

You've successfully configured IBM Db2 for z/OS for replication. The connection is now available for use in continuous replication and mainframe replication pipelines. You can now create or edit replication pipelines that use this Db2 for z/OS connection as a source or target.
