Describes the authentication method and permissions required to configure an Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition connection in Data Integrity Suite.
Server Access
Oracle Business Intelligence (OBI) Enterprise Edition requires network connectivity to the Presentation Server. The server URL must be specified with the appropriate hostname and port for your OBI installation.
Required User Permissions
Using the Oracle BI user interface, assign the login user account one or more of the following permissions on the specific objects to be imported (folders, reports, models):
- Read: Permission to read metadata and report definitions
- Traverse: Permission to go to folders in the catalog hierarchy
- Full Control: Full access to the object and its contents
These permissions can also be applied recursively to child objects (sub-folders).
Authentication Methods
OBI supports multiple authentication methods depending on your deployment:
- Standard OBI authentication with username and password
- Oracle Access Manager (OAM) authentication for enterprises using OAM for centralized access control
Memory Optimization for Large Models
When importing metadata from large OBIA applications, optimize the import bridge for memory usage by:
- Using a 64-bit JVM with increased memory (recommended: 4GB)
- Setting the "Optimize for large models" parameter to True to reduce memory requirements by ignoring foreign keys, joins, and complex relationships
