You have the ability to search assets across each tab on the Catalog page in Data Integrity Suiteto find specific assets more easily.

The global Catalog search bar acts as your primary tool for locating any data asset within the Data Integrity Suite. Whether you are a Business Owner seeking specific business metrics, a Data Analyst, or a Data Engineer looking for assets by column name, this feature offers a fast method to find the data you need.

  • The search bar is consistently positioned at the top of the Catalog page, above all other tabs. When you first go to the page, before you type anything, the search bar displays your Recent Searches and Search History. This feature allows you to quickly re-run previous queries for efficiency and continuity.
  • Default filtering by relevance: When you first land on any tab in the Catalog, the assets are displayed filtered by Relevance by default. From this initial filter, you can choose how you want to filter or sort the tab to better suit your needs.

  • Auto-complete and dynamic suggestions: As you type in the search bar, the system provides two types of assistance:

    • Auto-complete suggestions: Real-time text completion for what you might be typing, helping you quickly find technical assets such as business assets and workflows.
    • Relevant matches preview: A short list of the most relevant matches appears directly below the search bar. Each result in this preview includes:
      • Asset name
      • Asset type
      • Relevant metadata (e.g., column names, business metrics)
  • Exact match searching: Using quotation marks around a phrase (for example, "customer contact data").
    • It will return exact matches when the complete phrase appears in asset names or tags.
    • It will return matches from the asset description only if all search terms are present in the description (in any order).
  • You can click directly on any item in this list to navigate to its detail page.
  • If you press Enter or click View all results, you will be directed to a dedicated page with all the results. This page offers a comprehensive list of all matching assets and provides advanced filtering options, where you can:
    • View detailed results: Each asset is displayed with its name, type, location path, and key scores (such as Data Quality and Governance).
    • Refine your search: Use the available filters on the page to narrow down your results. You can filter by: Asset Type, Asset Location and other potential attributes.
    • Navigate to details: Click any asset in the results list to open its detailed information page.
  • You can also see more information about an asset without leaving the results page. Clicking an asset row offers the side panel preview.

  • If your search does not return any matches, the system will display a "No results found for..." message.
Tip: To get the most out of the search feature, consider the following tips:
  • For Business Owners: Search using business metrics or high-level concepts to find relevant datasets and reports.
  • For Data Analysts: Use SQL syntax, schema names, or specific table names in your queries to locate technical assets.
  • For Data Engineers: Search by column names (e.g., "ID") to find all assets containing that specific column.
  • Use filters to quickly drill down to the exact asset you need, especially when your initial search returns many results.
  • Save time by using the Recent Searches list for queries you perform regularly.
