Use Catalog to explore, view, and manage your datasources, datasets, and fields. You can access detailed information, quality metrics, and relationships for each asset. Filter and sort assets to find what you need quickly.

View catalog assets

View and manage your cataloged assets. Review asset details, quality scores, business metadata, and technical metadata. Use filters and sorting to find the assets you need.

  1. Go to Catalog and select an asset. The available asset pages are datasources, datasets, fields, technical, and business.
  2. View assets in card or list view.
    What's changed: In the new user experience, Table View replaces List View. For more information on the new experience, see About the new user experience.

    Each asset type displays different information.

    • Datasources display the datasource type, dataset count, field count, and quality scores.
    • Datasets display the datasource, datasource type, field count, and quality scores.
    • Fields display the dataset, datasource, datasource type, detected semantic type* Preview, data type, and quality score.
    • Business assets display the asset name, asset type, asset location, and status.
    • Technical assets display the asset name, asset type, asset location, and status.
  3. Select an asset name to open its details page.
  4. Review the asset details.

    The details page includes business and technical information. Available pages vary by asset type.

    • Datasources include description, asset type, tags, schemas, datasets, and fields pages, where you can select multiple child assets to edit, delete, or export them.
    • Datasets include description, asset type, tags, datasource information, datasource type, field count, and related metadata.
    • Fields include description, asset type, tags, location, base type, and semantic type.
    • Business assets include description, asset type, asset location, status, tags, and business metadata.
    • Technical assets include description, asset type, asset location, status, tags, and technical metadata.
  5. Scroll down to view additional technical and system fields, such as Created At, Created By, Updated At, and Updated By.
  6. Select Edit to modify the asset description, tags, and other metadata.
  7. In card view, select a card to open a side panel with asset details. The selected card is highlighted with a purple border.
  8. In list view, select a row to open a side panel with asset details. The selected row is highlighted in purple.
  9. Select the asset name in the side panel to open the full asset details page.
Preview: This feature is currently in Preview for select workspaces and might be subject to change before general availability.

Filter assets

Filter cataloged assets to find specific results quickly. All asset types (datasources, datasets, and fields) use the same filter operators and workflow. Available filter operators are: Is, Is not, Is populated, and Is not populated.

Filter types by asset:
  • Datasources: Datasource type
  • Datasets: Datasource type, Datasource
  • Fields: Datasource type, Datasource, Semantic type, Datasets
  • Business: Asset type, Status, Tags
  • Technical: Asset type, Status, Tags
  1. Select Filter button in the search bar to open the filter panel.
  2. Select Add Filter to create a new filter row.
    Repeat this step to apply multiple filter conditions.
  3. Select a filter type from the available options for your asset type.
  4. Choose a filter operator: Is, Is not, Is populated, or Is not populated.
  5. Select the checkbox next to each resource you want to filter for.
  6. Select Apply.
    Only assets matching your filter criteria display.
  7. To modify an existing filter, select the Filter button again. Change the operator, search term, or values as needed.
  8. Select Apply to save your changes.
  9. To remove all filters, select the filter, and then select reset.
